I have been chosen to be a Leavey School of Business Global Fellow for Summer 2018. I have been placed at the Association for Social and Environmental Development in India. It is a group started by nature conservationists and social development practitioners in 2001. ASED’s vision is to create an ecologically sustainable society, and they hope to achieve this through this through public awareness, action research, and people’s participation in biodiversity enhancement. The specific project I will be working with is The Green Rhinos Program. This program creates youth nature leaders through a transformational leadership process, igniting a passion for nature conservation. As a student intern, I will be assisting in the preparation of a trainers’ manual for The Green Rhinos Program. I will also be exploring the opportunities for taking this program to the U.S. and other countries that may be interested in the program. As a Global Fellow, I also hope to continue my development of cultural exchange and understand the cultural, social, and political issues that are affecting India, especially in relationship to their environment.
