I believe my work with Sacred Heart will advance the ideals and values of Santa Clara University such at the Jesuit philosophy of giving to those in need. I will be putting to action my beliefs that immigrants deserve equal human rights that our Constitution upholds. To further understand why people decided to immigrate to the U.S. in the first place. I will be using the knowledge I have learned in the classroom from my Ethnic Studies and Political Science majors to carry out my job as intern at Sacred Heart. I will do my best to bridge social inequalities that are present in my community with the work happening at Sacred Heart. I hope to further the collaboration SCU has with non-profits such as Sacred Heart. The LEAD Scholars Fellowship will allow me to work in my community on combating social justice issues while receiving a stipend that would help cover the costs for my transportation over the summer and my textbooks the following school year. This will help ease the financial burden my family already faces. I will be sure to also represent the LEAD Scholars Program and SCU proudly.
