This opportunity will advance my career goals because it will allow me learn about different cultures. In every career that you choose to pursue, you will come across people of different cultures and backgrounds. What better way to learn about a culture than by immersing yourself in it and experiencing it for yourself. People need to have compassion and sensitivity when it comes to people’s personal experiences because you never know what someone’s background is and what they might share with you and their personal lives. In addition, I think that technology has so much power in our world today and I think that distribution of technology can have a big impact on the world’s economy. I wish to someday be able to help work towards a goal such as equal technological distribution. In this case, knowledge about other societies and cultures becomes much more important. As a participant, I will be visiting barrios, meeting with grassroots organizations, and learning about the “models of social services" implemented in the communities.
