Julia Islas-Lozano

Hi Everyone, My name is Julia Islas-Lozano, I am a rising junior here at Santa Clara University in the College of Arts and Sciences double majoring in Psychology and Child Studies. My favorite class at SCU has been all my child studies class however I most recently took a course Child Studies 6: Anti-Racist and Decolonial Praxis in Early Childhood Contexts with Dr. Brita Bookser, the course focused on the benefits of teaching children about these challenging topics and how crucial ECE programs are within a child’s social-emotional development. Additionally, I had the opportunity to be a part of a research project with the child studies department specializing in a ECE program with a supportive curriculum.

A fun fact about is I enjoy spending time with family and friends, I love going on small day trips to the beach and/or shopping. I love baking with my mom and movie nights are my favorite. In addition to LEAD, some other organizations I am involved in are Sigma Omega Nu, a Latina/Multicultural sorority, and Hermanas Unidas, Future Teachers Project. I look forward to meeting you all soon!
