CPUC cites comments from the Broadband Institute of California to support decision ordering PG&E to develop an app for public submission of photos of PG&E safety issues

Catherine Sandoval was lead drafter in comments submitted by the Broadband Institute of California at Santa Clara University School of Law (BBIC) to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) that influenced the CPUC's decision requiring Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) to develop an App that allows the public to submit photos of PG&E infrastructure safety issues to PG&E, resulting in public posting of the photos and accountability for PG&E's response to safety concerns. The CPUC extensively cites the comments filed by BBIC, as well as Professor Sandoval's comments at a February 2020 CPUC Workshop in this proceeding, a workshop at which BBIC intern Ben Katzenberg JD '20 also made informative remarks. Professor Allen S. Hammond, IV also contributed to drafting the BBIC's comments, as did BBIC interns Robert Murillo JD '21 and Rosa Rico JD '22. Read the CPUC's decision.
