Michael Asimow teaches Contracts and Law and Popular Culture. Michael was previously a long-term visiting professor at Stanford Law School. Prior to that he taught at UCLA Law School and he is a professor of law emeritus at UCLA.

At UCLA, he received both the University’s Distinguished Teaching Award and the School of Law’s Rutter Award for Excellence in Teaching. In 1994, he received the Fredric P. Sutherland Award recognizing public service contributions by a faculty member. 

Asimow teaches contracts, administrative law, income tax, and law and popular culture.  In the area of administrative law, he co-authored a course book,  State and Federal Administrative Law (5th ed., 2020) (with Ronald M. Levin).  He co-authored the Rutter Group treatise California Practice Guide--Administrative Law. Asimow has written numerous articles on state and federal administrative law as well as comparative administrative law.  He is a consultant to the Administrative Conference of the United States.

In the field of law and popular culture, Asimow published Law and Popular Culture: A Course Book (3rd ed., 2020) (with Jessica Silbey).  In addition, he co-authored Real to Reel: Truth and Trickery in Courtroom Movies (2021) (with Paul Bergman), a book about courtroom movies of the past and present.  He has also published numerous articles on lawyers, law firms, and legal ethics in the movies.
