Application

  • Application completed online.
  • Application Deadline: April 15th for the Fall Semester and September 15th for the Spring Semester

 

Important Dates

    • Fall: International Visitors, Professors, and Exchange Students
      Semester Dates Fall: Mid-August to End November
      Exam Session dates: End November to Mid-December  
  • Spring:

Semester Dates Spring: Beginning of January through the end of April 
Exam Session dates: Beginning May to Mid-May

Students will be required to attend a mandatory international student orientation before each semester. Typically this is the week before classes begin. More information can be found here: http://scu.edu/isw/

Eligibility

  • Prior to participation, exchange students must have completed at least 2 years at their home school. 

 

Information for Classes

  • Degree-seeking students (F-1) are required to make normal progress toward their degree and must complete 8 or more units each term for immigration purposes.
  • Non-degree students (J-1) are required to enroll in the standard prescribed course of study for US students which is 12 or more units. 

 

Both degree-seeking students (F-1) and non-degree students (J-1) have the flexibility to enroll in more units than the minimum number required. 

 

Language

  • Language of Instruction: English
  • English Language proficiency is required for all classes.
  • Students for whom English is a second language, in which they have not reached academic competence, must submit TOEFL scores when submitting their application. Students who have reached academic competence in English or if English is their first language, or who feel that they are eligible for a TOEFL score waiver must complete and submit a TOEFL Score Waiver Form (provided in the application package). Students should note that students who complete the waiver form may be denied their petition for language accommodations during examinations. 

Cost

  • Estimated cost of living per semester is approximately $20,000
  • "Exchange to LL.M" students pay LL.M. tuition in their second semester.
  • Students will be required to show proof of funding for all estimated expenses.

Visa Info

  • SCU International Student Services processes all visa paperwork. They will contact you once your application has been accepted.

 

Insurance

  • ALL students in F-1 and J-1 status, regardless of the number of units, are required to have a US-based and Affordable Care Act-compliant health insurance plan. 
  • ALL students will be automatically enrolled in and charged for the annual SCU-sponsored health insurance plan.
  • Any students meeting one of the waiver exceptions listed below may complete the online waiver form with their own insurance information to opt out of the SCU plan. 
  1. Currently an enrolled dependent on a spouse/parent/partner or employee US-based and Affordable Care Act compliant plan.
