Dear Faculty Colleagues,
At the end of an unprecedented week in higher ed and our nation, I write to thank you for your generous response to the move to virtual instruction. I know it’s not easy adjusting courses to this mode of learning and assessment. I've spoken to a number of faculty who recount stories of how we are helping each other out and sharing best practices with one another. I’m also hearing from students about how you have offered them care and compassion, flexibility and encouragement. This is truly the Bronco spirit. Thank you.
I also recognize that you are making this adjustment among the challenges you face in your family and home communities. Please know that Lisa and I are here for you, and I urge you to keep leaning on one another for support, both personal and professional.
Earlier today, I sent the attached homemade video to our students. I wanted to speak to them directly, as I know all of this is hitting them particularly hard, especially graduating students and the younger among them who are trying to make sense (again) of the world they live in. Our care for them—our cura personalis—has been so, so important as we extend our web of support where we can.
You have seen and will see more emails with updates, but I wanted to send you now a more personal note, and this video, as an expression of gratitude and solidarity.
Take care,
Kevin F. O'Brien, S.J.
President
