My name is Kathleen Diaz, and for ten years I have been an English and ESL faculty at Merced College. In addition, I am the ESL faculty coordinator for the English department. I am originally from the East Bay of San Francisco. I received my B.A. in anthropology from CSU Sacramento in 1995. After my degree, I lived and worked in different places in the U.S.A. and abroad: Ecuador, Indiana, Spain, Illinois, Wisconsin, Germany, and Chile. All the overseas experiences have helped me to understand the plight of learning a language and adapting to a new culture. In 2000, I married my husband of 23 years, who is originally from Chile, and we have two children together. In 2014, I decided to return to school and completed my M.A. in English from CSU Stanislaus. My areas of specialty are in ESL and English composition. I have loved working as an English teacher ever since I started. Besides working, I love hanging out with my family, cooking, walking, and watching movies.
