Pooja Dubey was born and raised in Modesto, California, and graduated from Joseph A. Gregori High School. She graduated with CSF life membership, AP Scholar with Distinction, and National Rural and Small Town Recognition. During high school, she was involved with the National Honors Society, Asian American Association, and Project Change, where she sought opportunities to positively impact her community by combining her interests in math and biology with her passion for creativity. As a member of the American Heart Association Youth Health Equity Council, she also learned about the inequality in healthcare access within the Bay Area community. She researched initiatives focused on addressing challenges faced by such communities. Building on this experience, she began a research project aimed at understanding the socioeconomic determinants of childhood obesity to better address barriers to resource allocation and early intervention in preventing chronic diseases. Her journey through this project has exposed her to a new perspective in understanding health challenges from a broader perspective. She hopes to further this during her time at Santa Clara University as a Public Health major.
Pooja also loves to paint and crochet in her free time. With an interest in the medical field, during her time at Santa Clara University, Pooja hopes to seek opportunities to combine her passion for serving people with her interest in creativity through volunteering and research opportunities. She is honored and grateful to join such a vibrant community of students at Santa Clara University as a Johnson Scholar.
