Johnson Scholar

Hometown: Avon, Connecticut

High School: Miss Porter’s School

Major: Communications

Maggie Menendez, a Miss Porter’s School graduate from Avon Connecticut, is beyond excited to be a Johnson Scholar at SCU. Both a dedicated athlete and performer she was a strong contributor to the Miss Porter’s drama department as well as captain of the varsity swim team. Additionally, she lead the school’s all senior acapella group and pursued classical vocal training in opera outside of school. She completed numerous service hours and led the school’s Children to Children chapter in  raising over $4,000 to fund the Agape Children’s home, an orphanage in Myanmar. A strong believer in all facets of diversity, Maggie joined with peers to create an interfaith alliance and actively participated in the conversations of pre-existing alliances. She was awarded the Princeton Book Award in fall of 2017 in recognition of her extracurricular achievements while also being recognized academically as a four year high honor roll student and a member of Cum Laude Society. She is so pleased to be joining the Santa Clara community and looks forward to call it home away from home.
