Dear Santa Clara University Community,
Welcome to the Week 3 edition of the Prepared SCU Weekly Roundup. In this Friday digest, we share key information related to SCU’s response to COVID-19.
COVID-19 Dashboard Update
This past week, total positive tests through Color fell by 50% from the previous week to 165. The University’s 7-day test positivity rate is 9.6%, compared to Santa Clara County‘s 16.5% positivity and California’s 20.7%. Track our progress on our COVID-19 Dashboard.
Upcoming COVID-19 Vaccination Booster Clinics
Thank you to those who registered for today’s booster shot clinic. SCU will host a 2nd booster clinic at Locatelli Center from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. next Friday, January 28. The booster is appropriate for everyone five months after receiving the Pfizer or Moderna vaccination or two months following the Johnson & Johnson vaccination. The booster clinic is only for SCU students, faculty, and staff. SCU IDs will be required to enter the booster clinic. Please register for the booster clinic directly with our partner, Carbon Health, who will be running the clinic for the University. There is no cost, and no insurance is needed. If you have problems registering, contact scu-support@carbonhealth.com.
Upload Your Proof of Booster Vaccination
All SCU students and employees who have not received their booster shot are required to do so as soon as they are eligible and provide proof of their booster vaccination no later than March 17, 2022. The only exception to the booster requirement will be for those who previously obtained a University-approved COVID-19 vaccination exemption.
In-Person Learning
SCU’s COVID-19 Operations team closely monitors the incoming testing results that we receive each day from our testing provider, Color. The decision to return to in-person learning will be informed by the trajectory of COVID-19 positivity within our campus community. Additional information on returning to in-person learning will be shared next week.
Free At-home Rapid Covid-19 Tests
Faculty and staff can now order free at-home rapid COVID-19 tests through a new government website. Tests typically ship via the U.S. Postal Service within 7-12 days of ordering. Each order contains four individual tests.
Weekly Testing
All undergraduate and graduate students living on campus, regardless of vaccination status, are required to continue self-testing through Color every week throughout the term. A negative test result from a rapid antigen test does not exempt students from self-administering a weekly Color test. Compliance with weekly testing requirements will be monitored.
A reminder for those employees who have not yet returned to campus to please be sure to test prior to your first day back or no later than on the day of your return. Do not return if you are experiencing symptoms or are waiting for a test result.
