Women's History Month

About

Each year, Women’s History Month takes place from March 1 – March 31 to honor and celebrate the contributions on women in society.

The origins of Women’s History month date back to 1911 when the first International Women’s Day was held in 1911, but it wasn’t until 1978 that a Women’s History Day was held in Sonoma County, CA. This led to the first Women’s History Week in 1980 and then a formal month celebration in 1987.  Ever since 1988, Women’s History Month has been celebrated annually in the United States and in other places around the world.

Today, SCU joins in honoring and celebrating Women’s History Month with a series of different events and opportunities. We are mindful that this particular month coincides with the end of the Winter quarter, Finals and Spring Break.
