Sara Wheeler is an Imaginarium lab technician studying Web Design and Engineering (WDE) with a minor in Graphic Design and Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship. Sara is an essential member of both the Metaverse and Social Media teams as part of the SCU Media Lab. While her academic path focuses on web design and engineering, Sara's career aspirations gravitate towards the UX/UI industry, especially in relation to research and design.
Sara reached out to Dr. Jeong the summer before her sophomore year, interested in doing research with him as part of the Media Lab. This led to her joining the Social Media team in the fall of 2022, followed by her role in establishing the Metaverse team for research revolving around interpersonal communication in VR. She is excited to continue expanding her knowledge, already having found herself learning more about affective computing and virtual social spaces in her time at the lab.
Sara's favorite aspect of being part of the Imaginarium community is the diverse array of individuals she gets to interact with, hailing from different majors and backgrounds. Unlike the structured rubrics often encountered in traditional coursework, Sara has found it beneficial to explore projects with others in the lab in a more flexible, creative capacity while still practicing skills such as how to work in a team, iterate through ideas, and produce tangible results.
