19th Annotation of the Spiritual Exercises
Partnering with the Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos, the Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education gives staff and faculty of Santa Clara University an opportunity to experience the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola through individual prayer and reflection, as well as one-on-one spiritual direction. The 19th Annotation is a way to make the original 30-day retreat while still living one’s everyday life.
The retreat begins in November of each year and runs 9-10 months. Prior to November, there will be approximately 3 months of preparation days and spiritual conversation during which participants pray each day in a similar way to the Exercises and discern with a Retreat Director if the Exercises would be beneficial at this time of life.
How do you know if the Spiritual Exercises are right for you?
- You have an active spiritual life.
- You want to deepen your relationship with the Divine.
- You find the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth compelling.
- You have 45 minutes to pray every day.
- You can meet once per week with a retreat director who gives you material for the next week and listens to the insights from your prayer the previous week. This will be approximately one hour per week at a mutually agreed upon time in person and/or via the phone or internet.
- You are open to have a quarterly lunch with other SCU faculty and staff who will be making the retreat.
The cost of the retreat is free, as the fee will be paid for by the Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education.
