Also referred to as discernment in common, communal discernment is a process by which a community comes to recognize how the Spirit of God is active among them and what decisions the Spirit is inviting them to make. It helps a group recognize how they are responding to or resisting the Spirit and allows them to use this recognition to make good communal choices that lead to greater flourishing. For the past two years, the Ignatian Center has been facilitating communal discernment workshops for SCU faculty and staff who have sought to bring the practice to their own teams and departments.
Please contact Tony Cortese, Director of Ignatian Spirituality, if you would like to schedule a training for your team (acortese@scu.edu).
