Our Present:
This year, the Ignatian Center’s Arrupe Engagement has placed nearly 1,000 SCU students with community service organizations in San Jose, an experience which brings together academic study with care for underserved populations. Meeting the forgotten of our world and allowing ourselves to be taught by them is a practice deeply embedded in our Ignatian DNA.
Our Future:
Tech and the Human Spirit, the current theme of the Bannan Forum, explores how digital culture reaches into every corner of our lives, especially of the young. My recent Santa Clara Magazine article argues that good technology needs a good sense of what it is to be human – and that Jesuit education has something important to say to that.
Through our programs and the work of our students, the Ignatian Center continues to reflect on our history, live in the present, and look to the future in our quest to ignite the flame of Jesuit Education, here, there, and everywhere.
