The Head, Heart, and Hands of a Jesuit Education

The new school year is underway and it is such a joy to see students back on campus. Their enthusiasm and energy are contagious. Over and over again, students and their families shared their conviction that the Santa Clara University experience would be life-changing.

Students who recently traveled on the Costa Rica and Kino Border Immersions, and freshmen who went on the San Jose Immersion all agreed that their encounters with the host communities and with their fellow students led them to understand justice issues more intimately and more concretely. ICJE Immersion staff members invite, teach, and support our students as they become people ‘for and with others.’

This month we hosted 12 First Year students on the San Jose Immersion, providing them the opportunity to gain an invaluable perspective that enables them to recognize the inequalities and unjust marginalization of a vast population of people living in their new neighborhood.

We are so excited to have students back on campus and provide them with many opportunities to deepen their understanding of social justice issues. From winter break Immersions to Fellowship opportunities, students are able to experience the true meaning of a Jesuit Education and become people for others.
