When One Door Closes ...
I continue to find it difficult to move my gaze beyond those experiences that we cannot have these days -- the personal interactions with students or the buzz of a full room at an event. Yet, when I begin to truly look around beyond these doors that are currently closed, I see the multitude of new doors that are now open. By stripping out some of the noise, and grounding ourselves in our core values as a Center, we have reimagined and rediscovered our programs in exciting ways that will have an impact beyond this pandemic. From a massive expansion of virtual internship experiences, to robust virtual events, to energetic counsel from our Board, we are finding exciting new paths through these new doors which we know will remain open for years to come.
Reflecting on the challenge and opportunities in front of us are key components to the discernment process we will go through as a nation in the election next week. We are sharing resources below to help in your own reflections.
Amid these new and challenging times, we continue to remain steadfast in our mission to enhance the distinctively Jesuit, Catholic character of SCU - here, there, and everywhere.

ADVISORY BOARD | Welcoming New Members
The Ignatian Center is core to the mission of Santa Clara University and this work would not be possible without many dedicated partners, including our Advisory Board, who provide leadership in service to the mission of this Center and the University. This year we welcomed three new Advisory Board members: Betsy and Jim Slattery and Vicki Pope.

TWIN PANDEMICS | COVID-19 & Racial Injustice
Co-hosted by the Center for Arts & Humanities and the Ignatian Center's Bannan Forum and co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost, this two-day event featured virtual exhibits and performances, keynote speakers, and various discussion panels on the intersection of the Covid-19 and racial injustice pandemics. The event culminated with a live audiovisual performance and a panel discussion on the reflections of the twin pandemics.
WATCH RECORDINGS OF THE EVENT
This past summer the Ignatian Center supported 8 JEAN DONOVAN FELLOWS in virtual placements, 4 of whom are continuing the fellowship throughout the fall quarter. In addition, we have 5 ARRUPE FELLOWS and 15 THRIVING NEIGHBORS FELLOWS who will be supporting SCU students and community partners. We are excited to announce that we are offering our IGNATIAN FELLOWSHIP to 14 students who will fulfill their placements during the winter quarter.
Your support changes lives and impacts the world for the better.
