Ignatian Formation - Engaging our Jesuit Roots
Greetings to our friends and supporters from the Ignatian Center!
In the sparkling sunshine on our SCU campus this summer, we’ve had time to gather wisdom from last year’s activities. In this recollection time, we’re also planning ahead for our students, who are always the center of our attention, as well as our faculty and staff who support them.
Because an important aspect of the Ignatian Center programming is to help faculty and staff engage SCU’s Jesuit, Catholic worldview, we’ve reorganized and staffed a new group - Ignatian Formation Team. They are critically important in deepening the understanding of and engagement with the Jesuit, Catholic character of SCU for these times in our world.

As we look toward fall, staff members of the Center, including the Formation Team, will prioritize our students’ development as leaders of ‘competence, conscience, and compassion.' Watch for upcoming newsletters and join us in the transformative justice work that is the hallmark of the Ignatian Center.
As always, we are grateful for you and all our partners in formation - on campus, in neighborhoods nearby, at Jesuit organizations across the hemisphere, and in communities of hope - here, there, and everywhere.

This past year's Mission Integration Grant recipients certainly answered the call to engage issues of contemporary significance within the Catholic intellectual tradition and extend the Jesuit, Catholic vocation of SCU as a transformative social force.

Over the course of the past academic year, the Ignatian Center sent monthly emails to SCU faculty and staff highlighting the pilgrimage of St. Ignatius' journey 500 years ago. Each "episode" reflected on our collective journey rooted not only in the history of Ignatius' cannonball moment and his trek from Loyola to Manresa, but also in our own need to travel towards a more just and inclusive world.

The Lunchtime Examen was designed to provide a calm, welcoming presence for 8 minutes each week as we journey together in community through the Examen. Although the live sessions are only available to the SCU community, we invite you to view the recorded playlist via the link below.
