Who Our Students Become
Spring has arrived on the Santa Clara University campus (finally). The brighter, warmer days fill us with an abundance of gratitude, excitement, and Easter hope.
Earlier this month we celebrated SCU’s 10th annual Day of Giving. It proved to be a record year for the University and the Ignatian Center. We are so grateful to generous supporters like you for making the Center’s transformational experiences available to more and more SCU faculty, staff, and students.
On a related note, we are excited to announce the recipients of one such transformational experience - the 2023 Jean Donovan Fellows! These 15 undergraduates will fulfill their in-person fellowships at locations ranging from Santa Clara, CA; Columbus, Ohio; Chiapas, Mexico; and Karnataka, India. Since 2000, the Jean Donovan Fellowship has shaped the future vocation of many SCU undergraduates. The essence of the Fellowships is to accompany communities with dignity and respect on their path to wholeness and well-being. In the words of Colleen Dunne, Director of SCU Campus Ministry and contributing writer for Vocation Matters: “As people invested in the daily work of call and vocation, we know that even though we care deeply for those we lead, our willingness to allow others the freedom to discern their own paths is essential.”
SCU’s mission is to cultivate leaders of competence, conscience, and compassion. Your generosity enables the University to support our students as they become people with and for others.
The Freedom to Discern
We are excited to introduce the 2023 Jean Donovan Fellows! These 15 amazing SCU undergrads will engage with organizations of their own choosing from around the world, addressing social justice issues ranging from climate crisis awareness and action to food justice. We can't wait to hear about their life-changing experiences lead to meaningful vocational discernment.
