Assistant Vice President

Michael Nuttall has served as the Assistant Vice President since April 2023. In this role, Mike ensures the successful implementation of the vision of the Vice President of Mission and Ministry and oversees the successful operation of all aspects of the Division of Mission and Ministry. 

Mike previously served as the senior Director / COO from July 2021 until April 2023 and the Interim Executive Director for the Ignatian Center from May 2020 until June 2021. During this time, Mike continued to serve as the Associate Director and Chief Operating Officer, a role he had held since January 2015. In this role, Mike oversees the overall execution of the Center's strategic plan. Mike and the Operations Team are primarily responsible for managing the marketing, communications, and fundraising for the Center as well as providing logistical and operational support for the Center’s signature programs and the Center Staff.

Mike arrived at Santa Clara in 2010 and began work as Program Director for Immersions, followed by a stint as Interim Associate Director for Immersions. In January 2013, Mike became the Director of Communications and Operations and began to oversee the Operations Team. This position transformed into the current Associate Director position in January 2015. From January - August 2016, Mike served as the Interim Executive Director for the Center supporting the transition in Center leadership. 

He received his M.A. in History as well as a Masters in Higher Education Administration, both from Boston College. Prior to joining the Center staff, Mike worked for Teach For America and served as a volunteer with Rostro de Cristo in Duran, Ecuador for one year. He lives with his wife and two sons in San Francisco.
