624. Staff Retiree Informal Benefits
Statement
Santa Clara University may offer a variety of Staff Retiree Informal benefits to eligible staff employees. The Staff Retiree Informal benefits are intended for eligible staff employees who would like to stay connected with the SCU community after their retirement. The Staff Retiree Informal benefits are limited to the items and programs listed below.
Procedure
Eligible retired staff members may receive, upon request, a Staff Retiree ACCESS card which can be used to access some of the benefits and privileges listed below. Similarly, a staff retiree email account may be set up upon request. The informal benefits are not granted or set up automatically. To access these informal benefits, eligible staff may reach out to the responsible departments for more information and guidance. Additionally, access to and/or participation in these benefits and related events are subject to availability and applicable restrictions.
Eligibility
Upon resignation in good standing, any regular staff employee who has a minimum of 20 years of continuous service in a benefit eligible position or 10 years of continuous service in a benefit eligible position and who is 55 years of age or older at the time of employment separation is eligible for the benefits listed below. The years of service requirement does not include any bridged time (cases when an employee terminates and comes back to a benefits eligible position within a year).

Any remaining balance on the flex account at the time of retirement may be transferred to the new Staff Retiree Access card |
Responsibility
Human Resources is responsible for interpreting and administering the University's Staff Retiree Informal Benefits policy. It is the responsibility of the retiring employee to request the Staff Retiree ACCESS card and or the retired staff email account on or before the end of employment. It is also the responsibility of the retired staff employee to comply with all the terms and conditions of system access and usability as prescribed by the Information Technology department.
