About Fulbright

The Fulbright Program is the United States government's premier provider of funding for international research. Since its founding in 1964, the Fulbright Scholar Program has sent over 360,000 participants worldwide, with nearly 8,000 grants awarded annually.

Fulbright was founded as an instrument of the U.S. federal government's post-World War II “citizen diplomacy” efforts. It was created with the aim of building people-to-people relationships among teachers, researchers, and scholars. Unlike some other international grants, intercultural engagement and relationship-building is an embedded and critical part of Fulbright grants.
