1st Place Winner: Melanie Vezjak, Class of 2019, Global Fellows/Gambia/Summer 2017 - Together, we are painting our world.
Hands of different sizes, different shapes, different colors, work together to shape our world. We need everyone's hands to have a perfect circle; if one hand is missing, the circle is broken. This image tries to portray the importance of collaboration and equality, in order to become a more humane and complete world.
First Place Winner: Kristin Anderson, Class of 2019 - Global Fellows: Bolivia, Summer 2017 - Sunsets on the Salt flats
When one Googles "Bolivia", many of the images that come up in the search are of the Salar de Uyuni - the world's largest salt flat, now recently known for its appearance in the recent Star Wars film. After visiting, I completely understand why images of the Salt Flats are so popular - it's like being on a completely different planet. The sunset was breathtaking, seeing how all of the salt hexagons were illuminated with the rays of the sun.
Second Place Winner: Krystal Lam, Class of 2019 - Japan: Tokyo-Sophia University/SCU Abroad Exchange Fall 2017 - Lantern X Lantern
A line of lanterns at Shitenno-ji temple during Bon celebration in August.

Second Place Winner: Madeleine Ripley, Class of 2019 - Australian Catholic University, SCU Abroad Exchange - Found Nemo!

Matt LoGrasso, Class of 2019 - Melbourne Groceries
Melbourne, the second biggest city in Australia, is known for its rich artistic culture as can be seen in this photo. The city of Melbourne takes pride in its unique buildings but also its artistic murals and graffiti. I took this photo while walking through the alleys of the city and appreciating the local art.

Liam Healey, Class of 2019 - Maasai
This photo is of myself doing a traditional dance with the Maasai, who are one of the many indigenous tribes of Tanzania. Throughout our program we had many interactions with the Maasai and we were able to learn a lot about their culture, which is one that is vastly different from our own. This was truly a wonderful experience.

Michele Canny, Class of 2019 - Italy: Bologna/Spring Hill College Fall 2017 - Welcome Refugees to Italy!
I came across this sign in Venice and I immediately had to stop and take a picture. The complexity of immigration in Italy has marginalized many communities and seeing this gives me hope for the future.
Sankalp Mohanty, Class of 2019 - The Golden Hour
Taken at SCU's "The Grand Reunion 2017", where I got to see hundreds of beautiful faces from across the world under the golden dusky sky, leaving behind the routine life, forgetting where they come from, and instead uniting and reminiscing their love for one name - Santa Clara University. What better way to experience pride and love than this. Truly, SCU is home away from home!

Brianna Johnson, Class of 2019 - Peru: Indigenous Peoples & Globalization/SIT, Fall 2017 - Five p.m. in Cusco
On a rooftop near my homestay in Cusco, there is lookout next to the local market, restaurants, and homes. The locals of Cusco would come here and eat their lunch, play with their children, or look at the view. Strangers and family alike came to enjoy the beauty of Peru and the town I came to call home.

Brianna Johnson, Class of 2019 - Peru: Indigenous Peoples & Globalization/SIT, Fall 2017 - When I Held Her Hand...
In Tequile Island on Lake Titicaca, there is a fully indigenous population. They speak the beautiful language of quechua, work in the fields for their food, and teach their children about the culture they tried so hard not to loose. Here is an amazing woman I had the honor of living with during my stay there who taught me how to shuck the dried beans off the branches.

The main ways to get around on the Salt Flats are to either take a motorcycle or drive around in jeeps. The cars are loaded with all of the supplies for the day prior to embarking on whatever your journey might be. The views are breathtaking!

Erin Elliott Class of 2019 - Spain: Seville - International Business & Culture/CIEE, Fall 2017 - What's Up?
This photo was taken on the coast of Morocco after riding camels along the beach. The camels were loud, smelly, and obviously photogenic. Hard not to laugh.
