Dear Santa Clara University Community,
Welcome to the Week 7 edition of the Prepared SCU Weekly Roundup. In this Friday digest, we share key information related to SCU’s response to COVID-19.
COVID-19 Dashboard Update
This past week, total positive tests through Color fell by 12% from the previous week to 23. The University’s 7-day test positivity rate is 1%, compared to Santa Clara County‘s 5.5% positivity rate and California’s 5.7%. Track our progress on our COVID-19 Dashboard.
Indoor Dining
Beginning on February 21, indoor dining will be available in all open venues. Students, faculty, and staff can enjoy their food indoors or outdoors, but must continue to wear masks when not actively consuming food or beverage indoors. Catering for events and meetings continues to be available in outdoor settings but is not offered for indoor meetings and events at this time.
Over the course of winter and spring terms, you can expect to see:
- Pop-up holiday specials, bake sales, tater tot bars, etc.
- Weekly special entrees such as NY steak & fries, fish & chips, Hawaiian chicken/tofu
- A rotating menu of small plate options as well as smoothies at Fresh Bytes
- ‘National Day of’ free giveaways
- A weekly food truck rotation
Last COVID-19 Vaccination Booster Clinic
The deadline for SCU faculty, staff, and students to submit booster vaccine information is March 17, 2022. SCU will host a booster clinic on March 11 at the Locatelli Center from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and students will be able to upload the information to Cowell Center | My Student Health Portal after receiving the booster. The booster clinic is only for SCU students, faculty, and staff. Faculty and staff should upload their booster information to Workday.
Students who fail to upload their booster will have their spring courses dropped. The booster is appropriate for everyone five months after receiving the Pfizer or Moderna vaccination or two months following the Johnson & Johnson vaccination.
Indoor Mask Mandate
Although California's indoor mask mandate was relaxed this week, Santa Clara County’s mask mandate is still in effect. Santa Clara County will change its indoor mask requirements when certain COVID-19 metrics related to vaccination, hospitalizations, and case rates are met. There is no change to SCU's indoor mask requirements at this time. This also applies to the Jesuit School of Theology on our Berkeley campus.
Testing
All undergraduate and graduate students living on campus, regardless of vaccination status, are required to continue self-testing through Color every week throughout the term, unless they have tested positive in the last 90 days. A negative result from a rapid antigen test does not exempt students from self-administering a weekly Color test. Compliance with weekly testing requirements will be monitored.
