Dear Santa Clara University Community, Welcome to the Week 6 edition of the Prepared SCU Weekly Roundup. In this Friday digest, we share key information related to SCU’s response to COVID-19. COVID-19 Dashboard UpdateThis past week, total positive tests through Color fell by over 65% from the previous week to 26. The University’s 7-day test positivity rate is 0.9%, compared to Santa Clara County‘s 9.1% positivity rate and California’s 8.6%. Track our progress on our COVID-19 Dashboard. Indoor Masking in Santa Clara CountyThe Santa Clara County Public Health Department announced that it will not lift local indoor masking requirements when California does so on February 16, 2022. Santa Clara County will continue to base decisions on clearly defined metrics related to vaccination, hospitalizations, and COVID-19 case rates. There are no changes to our current mask requirements. On campus, N95 or KN95 masks are recommended instead of cloth or surgical masks. Students can pick up a KN95 mask at the Health Ambassador table in front of the Learning Commons, Monday - Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at their residence halls, or in several academic buildings. Upcoming COVID-19 Vaccination Booster ClinicsSCU will host two additional booster clinics on February 14 and March 11 at the Locatelli Center from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The booster clinic is only for SCU students, faculty, and staff. SCU IDs will be required to enter the booster clinic. Please register for the booster clinic directly with our partner, Carbon Health, who will be running the clinic for the University. There is no cost, and no insurance is needed. If you have problems registering, contact scu-support@carbonhealth.com. Booster Vaccine Verification DeadlineThe deadline for SCU faculty, staff, and students to submit booster vaccine information is March 17, 2022. Students who fail to upload their booster vaccine information will have a hold placed on their account and will not be able to register for classes. Any students who are enrolled but have not submitted booster vaccine information will have their classes dropped. Students can upload their information at the Cowell Center | My Student Health Portal. Do I Need to Get the Booster if I Recently Had COVID-19?People who have had COVID-19 can get their booster shot when their isolation period ends – 10 days after testing positive. If you want an extension or exemption from getting the COVID-19 booster, please email the Cowell Center to receive a form that will need to be completed by a medical professional and sent to the Cowell Center for consideration. I Got My Second Dose Recently. Do I Still Need to Get the Booster by March 17, 2022?You are eligible to get your booster shot five months after the second dose in a two-shot series, or two months after the J&J vaccine. If the second dose was received after October 17, 2021, please email the Cowell Center to discuss next steps. Dining and Meetings/EventsIndoor dining in Benson Memorial Center, at Fresh Bytes in SCDI, and at the satellite cafes will resume on Monday, February 21. Students and guests can order their food to go or eat inside. Food and beverages are prohibited in classrooms. Indoor events and meetings are allowed as outlined in the event planning matrix, but food must be consumed outdoors.
