Will Michael Bloomberg’s Support for London Breed Influence her Last big Choice as S.F. Mayor?

John Pelissero, director of government ethics, quoted by San Francisco Chronicle.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed is considering appointing Stephen Sherrill, director of Breed’s office of innovation, to a soon-to-be-vacant seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Sherrill used to work for former New York mayor and billionaire Michael Bloomberg, who was also one of Breed's chief benefactors.

John Pelissero, Ethics Center director of government ethics, agreed that Sherill’s appointment could create a perception issue for Breed.

“The problem here is not whether she is doing the right thing by the law, it’s more the optics,” Pelissero said. “It would appear that this could be interpreted reasonably by a member of the public as some sort of payback to former Mayor Bloomberg for his support of her campaign.”
