Santa Clara University Hosts IEEE 2022 Global Humanitarian Technology Conference

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 7, 2022—Santa Clara University will host the 2022 IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference (GHTC) September 8 - 11, 2022. The conference is a flagship international event, bringing together people working on technology applications to address critical issues for the benefit of resource-constrained and vulnerable populations worldwide.

Event focused on technology applications benefitting vulnerable populations will be held at SCU’s Sobrato Campus for Discovery and Innovation. 

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 7, 2022Santa Clara University will host the 2022 IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference (GHTC) September 8 - 11, 2022. The conference is a flagship international event, bringing together people working on technology applications to address critical issues for the benefit of resource-constrained and vulnerable populations worldwide.

The event, sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) will be held at Santa Clara’s Sobrato Campus for Discovery and Innovation at 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA 95053. 

The IEEE is the largest technical professional organization representing professionals and students in engineering, computing, and technology information around the globe,  with a mission to advance technology for the benefit of humanity. 

This year’s conference will feature: 

  • Over 80 technical paper presentations on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals
  • 14 keynote and plenary presentations
  • Eight panel discussions and special sessions
  • Three half-day workshops
  • Physical demonstration of disaster-recovery and clean-energy systems. 

It is such an honor to host the IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference, which aligns well with Santa Clara engineering’s mission to educate engineers ready to address the greatest challenges of the 21st century, especially, United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals,” said Behnam Dezfouli, associate professor of computer science and engineering at Santa Clara University and general chair of GHTC.
