Inroads to India
The Frugal Innovation Lab (FIL) recently hosted the Consul General of India, Ambassador Venkatesan Ashok. Students and faculty shared the work they are doing in humanitarian technology with the ambassador, and explored initiatives of importance to the citizens of India.
Dr. Silvia Figueira, director of the Frugal Innovation Lab, showcased social benefit projects led by School of Engineering faculty in renewable energy, public health, and poverty alleviation, and Kevin Kraver from the Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship shared scalable entrepreneurship initiatives being pursued in India.
School of Engineering Advisory Board member Dr. Nikhil Balram, President and CEO of Ricoh Innovations Corporation, extended the invitation that led to the meeting.
