The students designed an iPhone application that would enable people with developmental disabilities to navigate the public transportation system.  The application used pictures and images to help the user navigate common routes – such as from home to school – without the need for a physical caretaker to be present.  When using the application, the person sees an image, and receives an audio message about the next direction in the route. The application also had a “panic button” that would allow the user to contact a parent, caretaker, or guardian to assist them if they weren’t able to navigate on their own.
