The project objective was to create an innovative, cost-effective design of a stadiometer to more accurately measure the height of children from 2 to 18 years of age. The team decided to implement an ultrasonic sensor, which will fire an ultrasonic signal and determine the time it takes for the signal to bounce back. The instrument is placed on the subject’s head, and the height of the subject determined by the measured time will be displayed on an LCD screen. To complete this project, an arduino Mega microcontroller, button, LCD screen, ultrasound sensors, RBG LED, and 9 volt battery were used. A code was also implemented to ensure the device was level, and convert the distance to feet and inches.
