Major General Michael C. Wehr

In 2016, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Major General Michael C. Wehr was selected for the School of Engineering’s highest honor, the Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award for his contribution to the field of civil engineering.

In 2016, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Major General Michael C. Wehr was selected for the School of Engineering's highest honor, the Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award, recognizing alumni whose accomplishments in their professions, communities, and University service have set them apart.

As a civil engineering student, Wehr was commissioned as a second lieutenant though ROTC at SCU in 1985. He later obtained his master’s degree from the University of Texas and graduation from the Command and General Staff College and the Joint Forces Staff College. He served as a Military Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Highly decorated during his four combat tours (Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and others), engineering highlights include command of the 307th Engineer Battalion in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Theater Engineer for Afghanistan. He is currently in command of the Mississippi Valley Division in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he is responsible for a $2 billion civil works program impacting 41% of the United States and including 1.25 million square miles, 31 states, and 2 Canadian provinces.

For his service to our country and his exceptional leadership in the field of civil engineering, General Michael Wehr receives this award.
