Sander
The sander is used for smoothing surfaces with various grits of sandpaper. In the Maker Lab we have a corded DeWalt Orbital Sander and a cordless Craftsman Corner Sander.

Training Required: Basic Training
Materials: Wood, metal, porcelain
Common Terminology: Grit- the size or number of sharp particles per square inch of sandpaper; Coarse- For heavy sanding, 40-60 grit; Medium- For smoothing surface, 80-120; Fine- Final sanding before finishing, 150-180; Very Fine- Sanding between coats of stain, 220-240
