In-Person classes are here! Campus is buzzing with excitement as classes began back in person on January 31. Students and staff alike have been eager to reconnect for in-person learning, and we are finally all in the classroom and labs together.

Ying Liu (Computer Science and Engineering) has received a $196,211 grant award from the National Science Foundation. These funds will support her project "ERI: Generative Adversarial networks for Video Coding." Congratulations, Dr. Ying Liu! Learn more about her grant and research here.

Faculty lightning talks. The School of Engineering has started a datablitz, where you can find short videos from our faculty regarding some of their current research. Check out the first group of these talks which include "Biowearables" by Dr. Emre Araci, "Power and Energy" by Dr. Maryam Khanbaghi, "Bioinnovation and Collaboration" by Dr. Prashanth Asuri, and "Bias in Venture Capital" by Dr. Maya Ackerman. Elise Johnson graduated from Santa Clara's Engineering Management and Leadership Masters Program with distinction in 2011. This January, she was named a Woman of Influence in Construction, Architecture, and Engineering. Congratulations, Elise!

Congratulations to Vishnu S. Pendyala, Ph.D. '18 (Computer Science and Engineering) on being named Chair of the IEEE Computer Society Silicon Valley Chapter. This is the largest technology society in the world and a hub for engineering innovation. Read more about Vishnu's accomplishments here.
