Biography
Before becoming Chair of the Department of Engineering Management and Leadership, Paul Semenza was an adjunct lecturer in the Department. He is also an independent consultant with expertise in market research, strategic planning, and technology assessment of flat panel displays, semiconductors, and flexible electronics. In 2015, Paul helped to found NextFlex, a public-private institute focused on flexible hybrid electronics manufacturing, and served as Director of Commercialization until 2018, creating the membership structure and developing relationships with equipment manufacturers and other partners. Previously, Paul was President, Technology Analyst Business for The NPD Group, where he was responsible for the DisplaySearch and Solarbuzz businesses, and served as Vice President of Display Research for iSuppli Corporation and Stanford Resources. Prior to his career in market research, Paul worked in technology policy, including as a program officer at the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board of the National Research Council and an analyst for the US Congress Office of Technology Assessment (OTA). Paul started his career as a member of the technical staff at The Analytic Sciences Corporation.
