Databases and Information Systems (DBIS) Lab is led by Professor Shiva Jahangiri at Santa Clara University, Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
In this research lab, our focus is on Data Management Systems Internals, Databases for AI/ML (Vectorized Data Processing), AI/ML for Databases, and a lot more!
We work on various open source projects, including projects under Apache Foundation, and use them for implementation and evaluation of our newly designed algorithms, database operators, and optimization techniques.
DBIS accepts undergraduate and graduate students under various capacities including: Volunteer, Directed Research, Senior Design, Master Thesis, PhD Thesis, Independent Study, and Undergraduate Research. RA positions available only after a successful research through the mentioned capacities. Through our industry connections, you get to work on their open source problems and get hands-on experience.
Interested in learning about databases but don't know where to start? Join our DB Talk Time! We read, present, and analyze different scientific database paper!
