Mental health is an essential part of our campus community resilience and recovery from traumatic events. Campus community members may experience a range of emotional, behavioral, physical, and cognitive responses. While many individuals are resilient and will recover on their own, others may require additional support.
As a JED Campus, Santa Clara University has a number of resources and training opportunities available:
CAPS Reminder:
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is located in the Cowell Center and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our phone number is 408-554-4501.

Within the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) offers Tips for Survivors of a Disaster or Traumatic Event: What to Expect in Your Personal, Family, Work, and Financial Life.
Through the Cowell Health Center, you can find additonal Mental Wellness Resources.
988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary. The 988 Lifeline is operational 24/7 and accepts calls, texts and chats from anyone who needs support for a suicidal, mental health and/or substance use crisis.
The current National Suicide Prevention Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.
