Sonia L. Rubens, Ph.D. holds a doctorate in clinical child psychology from the University of Kansas. She completed her pre-doctoral internship in clinical child psychology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and a pediatric psychology post-doctoral fellowship at Dana Farber Cancer Institute/Boston Children’s Hospital. Her research focuses on understanding and promoting healthy sleep habits in youth. She is particularly interested in the link between exposure to chronic and acute stressors, sleep, and mental health in children and adolescents, as well as contextual and cultural factors that influence these associations. In addition to her research and teaching, Dr. Rubens is a member of the Pediatric Sleep Council (babysleep.com) and the executive board of Division 37 (Society for Child and Family Policy and Practice) of the American Psychological Association, and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals.
