ONLINE SPANISH-ENGLISH Bilingual Authorization For In-Service Teachers
Overview
The School of Education & Counseling Psychology is pleased to offer Bilingual Authorization in Spanish to help future educators meet the dynamic needs of multilingual children and youth. Dual language programs have proven to be the single most effective program for students identified as English learners. Becoming authorized as a bilingual instructor can lead to a wider range of teaching position options in the state of California. Bilingual Authorization Program graduates are authorized to teach their content area(s) in:
-
Spanish and English
-
English Language Development
-
Spanish Language Development
-
Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English.
Our Bilingual Authorization program is unique as our faculty are all former bilingual teachers and provide a critical lens on the education of Multilingual Learners. All of the courses are taught in Spanish to provide bilingual authorization candidates with additional opportunities to sharpen their Spanish Teaching Language.
The online program offers the right blend of synchronous and asynchronous activities to optimize learning for our bilingual teacher candidates. The program is guided by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and SCU's Jesuit mission where competence, conscience, compassion, and social justice are central to our work.
