The Jesuit Post Doctoral Diversity Program (JPDDP) Consortium brings together institutions in Jesuit higher education dedicated to expanding diversity within the professoriate. The Consortium provides post-doctoral/post-MFA candidates with meaningful employment experiences within the Jesuit educational setting, tangible professional development opportunities including career preparation and a cohort network of peers.
Why important?
- The nature of the professoriate is changing and with the increasing calls to diversify the faculty, it is essential that these post-doctoral opportunities exist to create viable and tangible pipelines
- Expand the awareness of the Jesuit educational experience and to introduce the career opportunities available at our respective institutions
- To better prepare Post-Doctoral candidates through focused mentoring, scholarship and service
- Focus on historically underrepresented and underserved communities, understanding the distinct needs of the respective disciplines
About
The JPDDP was formally launched in Fall 2017 with an initial cohort of Post Doctoral candidates from six Jesuit institutions. These insitutions included: College of the Holy Cross, John Carroll University, Loyola Maryland, Regis University, Santa Clara University, and the University of San Francisco. For Fall 2018, we have added Fordham University to the list of participating institutions. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected things and we are working on solidifying plans for the 2021 academic year and beyond. We are excited to announce that Gonzaga University and Saint Louis University are finalizing plans to join this Consortium.
The Consortium is open to any of the AJCU Jesuit Institutions with current and future post-doctoral opportunities, and is coordinated by Santa Clara University.
