Geography of Hope

April 7 - June 17, 2017

Santa Clara University professors Renee Billingslea, Department of Art and Art History, and Claudia McIsaac, Department of English, bring together students from their respective classes, SCU’s Exploring Society through Photography and Creative Writing and Social Justice, in this exhibition. Mentored and inspired by the work of Frank Sinatra Scholar-Artist-in-Residence Anna Deavere Smith, and responding to one another’s artwork and their community-based learning programs, the students involved in these courses created the photography, poems, and other reflections that comprise this multifaceted exhibition.

This exhibition is co-presented by the de Saisset Museum, the College of Arts and Sciences Frank Sinatra Chair in the Performing Arts, the College of Arts and Sciences Center for the Arts and Humanities, the Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education, the Moran Family Trust Ethics and Social Justice Program, the Department of English, and the Department of Art and Art History.
