We aim to support Santa Clara University's goal of educating the whole person. One of the ways we do this is through our ongoing schedule of exhibitions. However, we also offer a variety of education and outreach programs that encourage learning for all ages. Our programs include integrated education with SCU faculty and students, public programs, California History resources, and California History Docent Tours.
California History Docent Tours
The de Saisset Museum regularly offers docent tours of the California Stories from Thámien to Santa Clara exhibition and Mission Santa Clara de Asís. Although tours are primarily geared toward fourth grade students, the museum can occasionally accommodate other age groups as well. Tours are provided by reservation only.
Mission Santa Clara Resources and Information
The de Saisset strives to make resources and information about the dynamic history of Mission Santa Clara widely available. In recent years, we published an iBook on the history of the Mission and also developed a curriculum guide focused on Native California.
Public Programs
Each academic quarter the museum offers a variety of public programs, ranging from lectures to panels to workshops and family days. These programs aim to complement our exhibitions and/or address issues of contemporary society. A calendar of upcoming events is available on our homepage.
Integrated Education
As a university museum, the de Saisset works to ensure that our exhibitions and programs support the curriculum being taught at SCU. We do this by working with faculty and students to develop integrated education opportunities.
