The de Saisset Museum is delighted to be engaged in the ongoing development of a Public Art program.
The acquisition of major sculptural works into our collection for permanent display outdoors, speaks to our dedication of elevating the presence of the arts on the Santa Clara University campus. These works stand as visual reminders not only of the museum’s integration into the larger campus community, but also of the role of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation in all facets and disciplines across campus.
In its role as a cultural institution and resource for the community, the de Saisset aims to make connections between disciplines and across cultures and experiences. Bringing large scale sculptural works to a museum for exhibition is a great opportunity alone, but to be able to accept these works into a collection provides lasting impact on the campus and larger community.
As we cultivate large-scale public works, we are engaged in the University's goal of increasing Public Art on campus and our own mission to feature recognized artists in both exhibitions and in our collection so the SCU and greater community has access to artists and artworks of both local and international scale.
And, with our first three acquisitions, we also align with our mission to highlight works of California artists:
