This workshop will present the importance of community engagement through campus programming. We aim to promote social justice and discuss methods for effective student engagement in order to join our pieces on an individual and community level to achieve a peaceful and just global community.

A trivia-style exploration of Religious Literacy followed by a conversation around literacy and leadership

Student Activism at SCU - Lester Deanes

This session is designed for current and aspiring student activists. How do you do coalition building? How do you sustain a movement? and How do student leaders maintain a balance with academics and interests in creating institutional change? This year is the 50th anniversary of the Black Panther Party founded by bay area college students. Using the success and struggles of the black panther party as a case study, we will look at activism's role on college campuses, review the successes and struggles of sustaining a moment, and examine the importance of finding a balance with your well-being and your call for institutional change.

Translating Your Leadership Experience to Develop Your Professional Profile - Jen Ferrari

In this session we will explore the professional competencies needed to be ready for the world of work as well as discuss and develop ways to translate leadership experience into strong statements for inclusion on a student's resume and LinkedIn profile.

Marketing 101 - Leonie Phoa & Zipporah Ridley

Learn how to market your events, your organization, and create an effective marketing campaign. Also pick up someq quick tips and tricks on essential design guidelines to create eye-catching posters.

Personal Finances -Justin Wojcik

This interactive workshop will cover personal finance topics that we should all know more about, but rarely take the time to do so. We will discuss important budgeting techniques to ensure we live below our means, talk through strategies of paying off debt, and we will end with retirement account definitions and strategies of building wealth faster.

Leadership & Diversity - Megan August & Kaylee Hansen

This presentation is all about inclusive leadership at SCU, specifically how students can use their strengths, identities, and other campus resources to create a sense of belonging in the SCU community.

Be a Leader Outside the SCU Bubble - Callie Rimpfel

Light side vs. Dark Side? There is more than that in Santa Clara! We will be discussing the City of Santa Clara community and how to be a positive influence and leader in our community, both on and off campus.

 

Session #3 - 1:10-2:0pm

Awareness Meditation - Fabian Barreto

The 20 minute meditation will begin with an awareness of breath and then go to understand the potential deep within us.

Starting with You: Exploring Your Identity - Justin Wojcik

In an effort to greater understand and appreciate diversity all around us, it is important to first explore our own identity development. This interactive session will have participants walking around the room to identify which elements of their identity relate most to specific statements. This is a great exercise in sharing one's own story and truly hearing others' stories.

Bystander Intervention & Leaders - Gillian Cutshaw & Ghena Judge

This interactive presentation will help students identify red flags in potentially harmful situations including dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, and will teach them concrete skills around how to intervene as leaders within our community.

Broncos Give a Buck: Tips and Tricks for Fundraising - Frankie Bastone

Why giving back makes a difference. Tips and tricks of fundraising: From tabling and smiles to gratitude and appreciation, plus everything in between.
