Peter Friedenbach is the Professor of Practice for the High Performance Computing within the WAVE High Performance Computer Center at Santa Clara University.
Peter brings to Santa Clara University a passion for Database Performance with more than 40 years of industry experience in distributed database systems in roles ranging from Performance Architect, Manager, Information Systems Director, Performance Engineer, Consultant, Software Engineer, and Application Developer. He has core technical expertise in database performance, data and information management, data warehouse systems, systems architecture, and system performance. He has managed the performance of large, distributed, massively parallel processing database systems across a spectrum of use cases from transaction processing to query performance.
Peter is skilled in management and architect level leadership experience in various organizations ranging from Performance, Engineering, Information Systems, Consulting, and industry standard committees. He has managed and developed people, products, processes and organizations in both local project teams and distributed, international organizations. He is a technical leader who likes to remain “hands on” in the work.
Peter is also an educator, having taught for eleven years as an Adjunct Lecturer within the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Santa Clara University.
