Realms of Violence: A Call to Action for Public Health
Made possible by a generous contribution from alumna Sue Valeriote, ’77 and her husband, Ken Goldman, the second annual Valeriote Goldman Symposium will focus on violence as a public health issue at the local, national, and global level, understanding and addressing risk factors for various forms of violence in homes and communities, and how public health-inspired approached effectively reduce rates of violence without resorting solely to incarceration of offenders after violent acts have been committed.
Sue and Ken’s sponsorship includes funding to support five public health students each year to work at summer internships at non-profit organizations addressing the issues raised in the Symposium.
