Maricela Portillo-Loayza

Maricela Portillo holds a B.A. in Education specializing in Spanish Language and Literature at the National University of Altiplano in Perú (UNA). She also has a Master's degree and Ph.D. in Education from the University of Enrique Guzman y Valle in Peru. She worked for 18 years as a professor in the Department of Education at UNA, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to developing oral and written competency in Spanish communication, teaching strategies, and education research. She served as Director of the Secondary Education Program at UNA. She was a visiting professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at San Francisco State University and worked for the San Francisco School District, helping newcomer students develop their communicative competence in English.
