Prof. Ribas-Casasayas named Latin American Studies minor program director
The College of Arts and Sciences called on Prof. Ribas to serve as program director and advisor to students minoring in Latin American Studies. On the significance of this field, Prof. Ribas wrote: “Aside from the intrinsic interest of any area studies discipline, the historical, political, and social developments in other countries of the Americas provide a unique perspective from which to understand our own history in the United States. More importantly, economic and cultural developments widely acknowledged today as part of globalization have [their]origins in the Latin American region.”
