Ethics of Food Annual Speaker Series

Department of Modern Languages & Literatures sponsors “The Ethics of Food Annual Speaker Series” in conjunction with the Center for Food Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Last Fall, our faculty members Marie Bertola, Irene Bubula-Phillips, Evelyn Ferraro, along with Director of the Center for Food Innovation and Entrepreneurship Erika French-Arnold, received a $2000 grant to support their project entitled “The Ethics of Food Annual Speaker Series.” Supported by a Hackworth Grant center grant, this project initiates a speaker series discussing current food issues. The first event, held in October 2019, was a screening of the movie “No Food Left Behind!” followed by a panel discussion. The panel speakers included renowned Italian chef Viola Buitoni, writer, community organizer, and graduate of Italy’s University of Gastronomic Science Shakira Simley, as well as the Center for Food Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s On-Farm Food Waste researcher Travis Osland.
